Beatles Sex or Celine?

Las VegasI can’t decide. My choices are, but are not limited to: The Beatles, Zoomanity, Celine Dion, Wayne Brady, tigers…and some burlesque thing. At least that’s what I’ve found so far while researching things to do…other than gamble…in Vegas. Here’s the thing. We’re planning our Nevada/Utah,/Arizona/California trip and I want to make the most of everything everywhere. We’re giving Vegas only two days. So, that means cramming a lot into a little time. Definitely a show in Vegas, maybe 10 minutes of gambling (just to say I did it), and who knows what else. I am a virgin when it comes to Vegas. Sooo “skies the limit” as they say. To say that I want to experience it all doesn’t mean I want to find a prostitute…and I was only kidding about Celine Dion. She is not an option. Neither is Wayne Brady. But, I do know there is a wealth of fun in Vegas. After all, someone had to have coined the phrase “what happens in Vegas…” for a reason. Right?
This is what I know I want to do in Vegas: skinny dip in the pool, find a turtle in the wilderness sanctuary, have a cheeseburger in paradise, do that 10 minutes of gambling I mentioned, have a dirty martini, see a CirqueDuSoleil show (sex or Beatles? I can’t decide!), find evidence of Bugsy’s vision (at the Flamingo), maybe get a new tat, and finally, last but not least, find a diner that serves huevos rancheros at 3am. That’s pretty tame for what I could want. I know I know! But, it’s a start. Right?

  1. Inside New York New York, there is a restaurant called America, which has all sorts of amazing comfort food 24 hours a day. I was there in 1999 and the food was incredible at 3am…:) checking out the New York New York website and going through their menus, I did not see any huevos rancheros, but I did see this:

    SAN ANTONIO SCRAMBLE
chorizo, onions, peppers, fiery potatoes, jalapeño
    scrambled eggs and warm tortillas

I know thats not quite what you’re looking for, but figured you might appreciate it anyway.

  2. You know, that sounds just as good! If not better! I think New York New York is where one of the Cirque shows is…hmmm…something to think about! Thanks for the tip 😉

  3. You should ABSOLUTELY pick up a guide book on Las Vegas from the bookstore. Fodors, Frommers, Unofficial, Lonely Planet, Time Out … they all make a guid for Las Vegas. Some are more geared toward the conservative travelers, others geared toward the more edgy traveler … so park your butt at the bookstore for a bit and poke through the guides and find one that seems to fit for you. Things in Vegas change so fast that you’ll want a current guide for the up to date listing on restaurants, things to do, shows to see, etc. Plus … I know how you like books 🙂

  4. Plus … you can always be a little cheesy and go renew your vows with kisa at the Elvis Drive thru 🙂

  5. If you are going to NYNY give the roller coaster a try. I found it somewhat less terrifying at night. Great (upside down) view of the strip. Also not to be missed – a trip to Red Rock Canyon. What? No Manilow show while you are in town? Enjoy.

  6. Oh, and one more thing – the Bellagio Atrium and Conservatory is usually quite stunning. Might want to call before going – we caught them on a tear down day (changes themes every season or sooner) last year when we had our Elvis Wedding (Renewal of vows).

  7. RT~ Remembering your wedding (w/ Elvis in attendance), we might have to do that drive-thru. And you’re right about about the books. I do love ’em 😉

Chet~ Did you say roller coaster??? At night? Way cool! I’m writing Red Rock Canyon down (I’m intrigued)…BARRY! omg! I forgot about Barry! I could go for a little Copa cabana! I’ll research the Bellagio, too. Thanks for the tips…
P.S. Congrats on the Elvis Wedding. You crazy kids! 😉
